Tax answers in sixty seconds

Safietou D. Russell’s YouTube channel is where the questions that come up in every consultation get answered in plain language, a weekly Tax Tip Tuesday Short, plus longer workshops when a subject needs room. Built for mental health and wellness practice owners who would rather understand their numbers than dread them.

Every upload from the channel, newest first, playable right here.

Review Your Business Goals Quarterly

Published 21 August 2026. Your business changes across the year, and the financial plan you set in January is rarely the one that still fits in August. This one asks three questions worth revisiting every quarter.

That is the shape of most of what is here: one idea, one minute, something you can act on before the next filing deadline. The full set is below, grouped by the problem it solves rather than by the date it went up.

48 quick tips, grouped by what you came here to solve

Sorted by subject rather than by date, because you probably arrived with a question rather than a chronology. Pick a theme, then tap any Short to watch it without leaving the page.

New Shorts land most weeks. The channel always has the current set.

When a subject needs more than a minute

Workshops, guest conversations and the multi-part S-corp walkthrough, 30 longer videos, grouped into the three things people most often sit down to learn properly.

The channel has been running since 2014, so there is more in the archive than fits here.

The six subjects that keep coming back

Not because they are fashionable, but because they are the ones that cost practice owners real money when they go unattended.

Should you be an S-corp?

The election that comes up in almost every consultation once profit passes a certain point, when it helps, when it costs more than it saves, and the deadline you have probably already missed but may still be able to fix.

Quarterly estimates

Four dates a year that decide whether April is a formality or a surprise. How to size a payment, when to adjust it mid-year, and what actually happens if you underpay.

Deductions you are entitled to

Mileage, supervision, continuing education, the home office, the part of your phone bill that is genuinely business, and the record-keeping that makes each one defensible rather than merely claimed.

Bookkeeping habits

Separating personal from business, keeping categories consistent, closing the month before you forget what a charge was for. Small routines that turn tax season into a handover rather than an excavation.

Bookkeeping services

Paying yourself & your team

Reasonable compensation once you are on payroll, contractor versus employee, and the January filings (W-2s, 1099s, W-9s) that arrive faster than anyone expects.

Payroll & retirement

Cash flow & planning

Profit and cash are not the same thing, and only one of them pays your rent this month. Reviewing the numbers often enough that decisions get made on evidence rather than on how the month felt.

A few practical things

How often do new videos go up?
A new Tax Tip Tuesday Short goes out most weeks, with additional Shorts through the month and longer videos whenever there is a workshop, a course session or a guest conversation to record. Subscribing on YouTube is the reliable way to catch them.
Do I need to watch these in order?
No, with one exception. The Shorts are self-contained, so start with whichever theme matches the question you arrived with. The S-corp series (Tip #1 through Tip #7, plus Ep.08 and Ep.09) does build in sequence, so that one is worth watching from the beginning.
Are the videos only for mental health practice owners?
The examples are drawn from private practice, because that is the field Safietou works in every day. The underlying rules (quarterly estimates, deductions, payroll filings, S-corp compensation) apply to any small service business, so consultants, clinicians and solo owners in other fields find them useful too. If you want the material aimed squarely at your field, start with who we serve.
Does a video count as tax advice for my situation?
No. A sixty-second Short is general education, and the difference matters: tax answers almost always turn on facts specific to you, your entity, your state, your income mix, what your books already show. For guidance tied to your own numbers, book a consultation or a free consultation.
Can I watch without leaving this page?
Yes. Every card here opens the video in a player over the page, and closing it returns you exactly where you were. If you would rather watch on YouTube (to comment, save or subscribe) open any card in a new tab, or use the channel directly.
Beyond the tips

Ready to apply this to your own numbers?

A Short can tell you the question to ask. A consultation is where it gets answered for your entity, your profit and your deadlines, along with the one or two changes worth making first.
